After launching #MondayMusings this week we decided to make it two launches in a week on Jigsaw Connect so today sees the start of a weekly Friday post that will take a slightly (and much-needed) lighthearted look at #TeamJigsaw.
Enjoy the first ever #JigsawFriday!!
South Cheshire Ladies 1st’s bow out in style
Jigsaw Medical-sponsored South Cheshire Ladies 1st hockey team completed a record breaking season by thrashing Macclesfield Hockey Club 5-0; seeing the team finish with a total of 104 goals scored and only 21 goals conceded! Consistent, solid team performances throughout the season have been enhanced with flashes of brilliance and at times, exhibition-style hockey. Ex-South African International Carla Lee Critchlow, voted this year’s ‘players’ player’ has lead by example, and her seemingly magical stick skills rubbed off on the whole team. Notable performances from talented youngster Becca Barlow, coming into the team at only 14 years and the goalscoring antics of skipper Sammie Jones showing that SCHC are not a ‘one woman’ team. The pinnacle of the season came when the ladies travelled to top of the league to face unbeaten (at that point anyway) Sale HC. Traffic issues meant that SCHC played the first half with no goalkeeper. As they entered the second half with a 3-1 defecit the outlook wasn’t great but a heroic effort from the whole team saw them overcome a seemingly impossible situation to win 4-3. At the club’s end of season celebration, the 1st team were awarded the club ‘Team of the Year’ in recognition of their successes. Sadly, South Cheshire Hockey Club which only formed in 2003, despite the efforts of club officials and players, will fold following this fantastic season. A sad end to a record breaking season, but a team that Jigsaw Medical has been proud to be associated with.
This week’s meet #TeamJigsaw is Recruitment and Solutions Manager Holly de Gaunza. Holly has worked at Jigsaw since August 2014 as recruitment lady extraordinaire; forging highly effective and lasting relationships with clients and candidates alike. In order to get to know her a little we asked her 3 random questions, here’s what she said:
What’s your favourite Film?
Notting Hill or Batman (any apparently – even Joel Schumacher’s monstrosities!)
List three words to describe yourself.
Enthusiastic, Confident, Driven
What would be your last meal if you were on death row?
Italian Tapas or piattini dishes.
Last night #TeamJigsaw’s Operations Manager and Qualified Technician, Jon Gooding and Clinical Paramedic Manager, Kathryn Telford took part in a careers convention at at local high school (Helsby), demonstrating kit, procedures and giving sound advice to any prospective Nurses, Doctors or Paramedics.
Jeremy Clarkson vs. Zayn Malik
In other news…this week saw the departure of 2 particularly high-profile celebrities from their respective roles. Jeremy Clarkson was ‘sacked’ (contract wasn’t renewed admittedly sounds better) and Zayn Malik decided to leave the world’s biggest boy band, One Direction, albeit for much different reasons. Whilst we must admire Zayn for speaking out about mental health issues and helping raise awareness of the devastating effects it can have on people, even people that seemingly have it all, the story that broke regarding people (grown-adults nonetheless) seeking compassionate leave due to his departure is farcical!
Which departure upset you more? Let us know in the comments below…
Have a great weekend from everyone at #TeamJigsaw
