Jigsaw Medical are delighted to make a few announcements in their support of #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek2017, particularly given the fact that according to mental health charity, Mind:
“Independent research shows that members of the emergency services are even more at risk of experiencing a mental health problem than the general population, but are less likely to seek support.”
Firstly, everyone at #TeamJigsaw would like to say a massive thank you to Stag Business Solutions for providing our team with training in the Level 3 Award in the Awareness of Mental Capacity Act 2005 as part of our contribution to Mental Health Awareness Week 2017.
The award provides learners with the understanding and relevant knowledge needed to work with individuals who have capacity issues with their mental health and also helps them understand what to do if they are involved in the treatment or care of people who may lack the capacity to make decisions for themselves.
This training also complements the recent TRiM training that all Directors and Senior Managers of #TeamJigsaw took part in, more of which can be learned about here.
Furthermore, Jigsaw Medical is delighted to announce they have recently pledged to support 2 fantastic charities who work within the Mental Health arena:
Jigsaw Medical is delighted to have become an official supporter of Heads Together. Heads Together is a campaign spearheaded by The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry to end stigma and change the conversation on mental health. It brings eight leading mental health charities and organisations together to build on the great work that is already taking place across the country to tackle stigma and provide mental health support.
As a Supporter of Heads Together, you are agreeing to make the following three commitments:
1. Role Model the Conversation – demonstrate that having a good conversation about mental health can help massively.
2. Share the Conversation – via blog posts, social media, advertising etc.
3. Encourage the Conversation – encourage people to speak up about their issues and problems, and give them confidence!
As well as the above Jigsaw Medical are delighted to have signed the Blue Light Time to Change pledge. This is a campaign to drive long-term change, and the charity is working with Police, Fire and Rescue, Search and Rescue and Ambulance services to tackle mental health stigma in the workplace.
By pledging, we are aligning our service with a major national movement for change. Importantly, it also shows that this aspirational commitment to be active in tackling mental health stigma and discrimination in the workplace has support from the top – helping to inspire the culture of our organisation.
According to CEO, Chris Percival:
“Jigsaw Medical is delighted to make the Blue Light Time to Change pledge and will consistently strive to provide the best support for all our members of staff who are at risk of or currently suffering from mental health issues.”
