The Manchester Midnight Walk is back for 2016 and #TeamJigsaw are proud to be providing the event medical cover on 24th June 2016, as it is set to be even bigger and better than before!
Last year the walk raised over £250,000 for St. Ann’s Hospice and they will be looking to raise more this year as part of their 10th birthday celebrations.
The 10km route starts at midnight from Manchester Central and takes in some of Manchester’s most famous landmarks including the Hilton Hotel, Old Granada Studios, Spinningfields, MEN Arena, the Northern Quarter and past the Universities. The route is fairly flat and on footpaths and ends back at Manchester Central.
Manchester Central is open from 9pm, where you can enjoy the evening’s entertainment, decorate your official t-shirt, and collect your goodie bag full of freebies and supplies to help you on your way. As you cross the finish line you can collect your medal to celebrate your achievement!
Some people walk to remember a loved one, others walk for fun, but everyone that takes part is walking for St Ann’s Hospice.
St. Ann’s Hospice…
St Ann’s Hospice cares and helps around 3,000 patients (over the age of 16) and their families and carers every year who are affected by cancer and non-cancer life-limiting illnesses. We deliver care that is special and unique to each individual person. Around 40% of inpatients at St Ann’s Hospice return home after treatment.
The hospice provides care on 3 sites and in people’s own homes, working in partnership with acute hospitals, primary care trusts, community services and voluntary organisations.
Many of St. Ann’s Hospice services are provided 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and are provided by specialist staff. Approximately 400 members of staff are fully employed and are aided by around 800 volunteers.
The care is free of charge, therefore, the hospice has to raise £16,000 every day so the specialised staff can provide the highest quality care.
