  • This is for:

    Any individuals who have regular contact with children and/or work in a school, playgroup or youth centre.This course is also suitable for parents and parent groups.

  • Objectives:

    This course is designed to give the necessary basic life support skills including Resuscitation techniques to students and to give a working knowledge of, and hands-on skills involving paediatric emergencies.

  • Certification:

    A 3 year's Certificate of Competence (meeting Ofsted criteria) will be awarded on successful completion of the course.

Course Summary

This first aid course is ideal for primary and nursery school teachers, child minders and child careers. Learn how to manage emergency situations or minor everyday occurrences when looking after infants through to teenagers. Qualification meets the criteria defined for first aid training in the Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework (EYFS) and Ofsted first aid requirements for registered childminders. It can also be used as evidence for employees working towards an NVQ in Childcare and Education.

Day 2

  • Head, neck and back injuries
  • Dealing with foreign bodies
  • Hypo/Hyper thermia
  • Illness management
  • Common paediatric emergencies
  • Incident reporting

Assessment is ongoing throughout the course.
