We are delighted to announce that Rich Bell has joined our Senior Management Team as Consultant Paramedic – National Head of Clinical Care.

Rich brings a wealth of expertise and experience to the role with being a Paramedic with over 25 years’ experience of pre hospital care, working in all elements of the Ambulance world from PTS through to Special Operations, Rich has spent a decade developing clinical care in remote and austere environments and has developed his own scope of practice through emergency, primary and rehabilitation medicine.

He has provided HEMS services in Afghanistan and Iraq not to mention what he describes as the highlight of his career so far, being the London 2012 Venue Medical Manager at the Olympic Park.

We spoke with Rich to understand why he decided to take the role and what we can expect in the future:

Why did you take the role?

I was looking for a new challenge within a dynamic setting, the role allows my entrepreneurial flare to be useful in a business that has growth at the forefront of its culture. Talking of culture, our people first is a mantra I believe in and is fundamental within the company. I believe I can contribute not only to the clinical excellence development of our company but also assists in its commercial growth.

What will your role entail?

As part of the Senior Management Team, answering Directly to the Managing Director & CEO – Chris Percival, I’m responsible for all things clinical, developing clinical excellence, development of clinicians, Medicines management, clinical governance, clinical support and appraisals to name a few.

Do you have plans for the future?

My primary focus is building a team of clinical mentors to support all grades of clinical staff working across our contracts. Ensuring frameworks for supporting Student and Newly Qualified Clinicians. Building an academic framework to evidence the competencies we are developing and maintaining evidence of compliance, whilst maintaining a robust clinical governance strategy.
